Oral Sedation
Oral sedation involves swallowing a small pill.  This pill is called triazolam (Halcion).  It has amnesiatic and sedative effect.  It is usually given to the patient 30 minutes before procedure.  We recommend that the patient do not eat anything the morning of the treatment.  This enhances the effectiveness of the medication.  We will put the patient on vital signs monitor so that we can monitor the medication effectiveness and also to monitor patient responsiveness.  This results in light to moderative level of sedation.
